R. v. THAMBITHURAI
OTTAWA – May 14, 2010 – Prapaharan Thambithurai, 46, was sentenced today in the Supreme Court of British Columbia to 6 months in prison for a terrorism related-offence.
He pleaded guilty earlier this week to one count of providing financial services knowing that they will benefit a terrorist group, namely the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), contrary to ss. 83.03(b) of the Criminal Code.
He was arrested on March 14, 2008 and was released on bail on March 18, 2008.
